Hello everybody,
I have been looking for some technical advice on pipe piercing. i am having a pipe of OD 22.2 mm and thickness 2.3 mm. The same pipe is bended at different portion and holes are drilled at present onto it by bench drilled machine at bend portion. But instead of drilling hole i want to do it by pressing route (piercing route) without using mandrel. Can anybody suggest some method by which we can make a pierce hole in pipe without use of mandrel. |

The following reply was provided by Wayne Long, one of the Tube and Pipe Fabricating Tech. Group advisors. I hope it helps: They now have a process where they can pierce the holes before bending the tube, right on the CNC benders. All they need is a power pack for the piercing tool, and program the bender to locate the holes,(the bend clamp and insert is the area they use for the holes), they pierce the holes first before bending and while the collet still has hold of the tube it locates the holes in the right position for bending. Quite a few of the bender manufactures have this. Let me know if I can be of more help. Wayne D. Long Sales Manager Bend Tooling Inc. 1009 Ottawa Avenue, N.W.
