Default Survey Responses Requested

I am currently writing my thesis to complete my masters in quality. As part of this assignment, I am collecting responses from a survey that is aimed at finding out what the current state of education is in the typical maintenance environment of a factory.

I am asking for help by people who would be interested in helping me collect this data. Attached to this posting is the survey form. The survey asks for basic information about the company, like size, industry, etc. All information will be used only for the statistical purposes of my thesis and specific responses will be kept confidential.

I would ask that the survey be handed out to people involved in making maintenance scheduling decisions as well as those carrying out the direct maintenance activity. You may either email the forms back to me, or send them by snail mail to the address shown on the survey.

Thank you!!

Unhappy

Would you believe that I didn't get any responses from this request? Well, I didn't! That's pretty disappointing.

Default Survey does not apply

Perhaps the reason for the lack of returned surveys is that this forum is concerned with tooling and dies. The survey relates to equipment PM which has many proponents and resources that relate to this usual (common) type of preventive maintenance.

Tooling and dies are unique creations without a sea of data to support a statistic driven PM program. With these type of animals, predictive has not been mightily explored. The equipment is stress-wave related and expensive to use as a standalone technology. Tied in to a stamping/forge press system that monitors that driver would substantially reduce the cost for the tooling/die.

With such a well developed and documented system (tribology; sonic; thermal; etc.) that has proven itself for many manufacturers, none are willing to invest this money to replace a "proven" system to accommodate a new system with "unproven" reliability.
