I am looking for the best practice for machining and heat treating 15-5ph shaft material?
This is a customer request. We currently just scrapped a shaft.
The stock material is 5-1/2" x 98" long.
We are buying the shaft stock annealed and then plan on sending it out for h-1025 heat treatment before machining. There is some concern about it being too hard to machine after it is heat treated.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
